Atmosphere Discipline Node
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is conducting market research to identify organizations capable of managing the Atmosphere Discipline Node (ADN) for the Planetary Data System (PDS). The PDS is a distributed network of nodes responsible for the long-term preservation and accessibility of planetary science data, including mission observations, models, and software. This requirement involves operating a Federal information system in compliance with FISMA, FITARA, and specific NASA cybersecurity directives. A central technical objective is migrating science data services from current on-premises infrastructure at New Mexico State University to a NASA-managed cloud environment. The selected provider will handle data archiving, discovery services, and the mandatory conversion of data to PDS4 standards. NASA is using this request for information to determine competition levels and small business subcontracting goals, with capability statements due by June 12, 2026. The draft Statement of Work and technical appendices outline a transition for the ADN, including a migration from on-premises systems to a NASA-managed cloud. The Atmosphere Discipline Node (ADN) manages the secure preservation and usability of planetary science data within the NASA Planetary Data System.
