VERMICULITE

The Department of the Army, Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC) at Fort Drum, has issued a combined synopsis/solicitation under solicitation number W911S226U2921 for the procurement of thermal insulation vermiculite. This requirement is for Type 1, Grade 4 superfine vermiculite used for packing hazardous chemicals or liquids, specifically meeting ASTM-C-516 standards. The material must be expanding/exfoliating with a bulk density between 5.5 and 8.0 lbs per cubic foot and follow specific cumulative percent retained measurements across U.S. Sieve Nos. 16, 50, and 100. The solicitation is a total set-aside for Small Business Administration (SBA) concerns, classified under NAICS 322220 for Paper Bag and Coated and Treated Paper Manufacturing and PSC 8105 for Bags and Sacks.

The government requires R.M. Waite Co. products or an equivalent brand, delivered in bags weighing approximately 25 lbs each. Award is contingent upon approval of a Certificate of Conformance (COC) or Certificate of Analysis (COA) by MCAAP AO, which must include detailed manufacturer data, batch numbers, analytical data, and a signature from an authorized representative. A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is also required. The projected delivery schedule spans from May 2026 through November 2027, with 15 incremental deliveries of 24,750 lbs each.
