M--TRAIL BRIDGE BLACKLAND PRAIRIE

The National Park Service has issued a combined synopsis/solicitation, numbered 140P5225R0018, for the construction of a trail bridge at the Blackland Prairie section. Classified under NAICS code 237310, Highway, Street, and Bridge Construction, and PSC M1LB, Operation of Highways, Roads, Streets, Bridges, and Railways, the project involves the installation of pre-fabricated bridges and associated components. The scope of work includes specific construction and design requirements for pre-fabricated bridge elements, which are handled via delegated design since they are built by a manufacturer. Technical specifications allow for diaphragms to be bolted to girders and require diaphragm connection brackets on both sides and ends. Bearing plates must be welded to the girders, and steel angle nailer brackets should be spaced at a maximum of five feet on center along the length of the bridge. To minimize corrosion, components including hardware, girders, bearing plates, diaphragms, and nailer angles should be protected with galvanization, epoxy coating, or powder coating.

Proposals are due by 2:00 PM CT on July 17, 2025. The solicitation includes six attachments: the primary solicitation document and two amendments, a statement of work for the Blackland Prairie section near milepost 261.1, a list of solicitation clauses, and wage determinations for Lee County. Contractors are expected to maintain the existing design plans for all elements outside of the delegated pre-fabricated components.
