The U.S. Forest Service has issued this Sources Sought notice, solicitation number 12363N26Q4138, to conduct market research for hazardous fuels reduction treatments within the LaCroix Ranger District of the Superior National Forest in Minnesota. The project involves harvesting approximately 16.8 million board feet of low-value timber across 2,103 acres in the Can Crusher, Finkus, Pac Man, and Wild treatment areas. The scope includes timber removal via clearcut, shelterwood, or commercial thinning, alongside temporary road construction, slash piling, and forest system road improvements. Service work may encompass pre-commercial thinning, mechanical fireline construction, fuel break maintenance, and the removal of sub-merchantable biomass through mastication, chipping, or crushing.
The government seeks capability statements from firms experienced in logging and tree thinning under NAICS 113310 (Logging) and PSC F014 (Natural Resources/Conservation- Tree Thinning). Submissions must include company identifiers such as UEI and socio-economic status, a summary of relevant experience in northern Minnesota, and an equipment list. Interested parties are also asked to complete a project questionnaire regarding pricing structures, the feasibility of the performance period, and experience with Designation by Prescription. An informational open house is scheduled for May 20, 2026, at the LaCroix Ranger District office in Cook, MN, with options for virtual attendance via Microsoft Teams.
This requirement is managed by the USDA-FS Stewardship Contracting Branch. While a formal solicitation is anticipated for spring 2027, all work under the eventual contract is expected to be completed by May 2031. Responses to this notice and the one associated attachment, which details the planned Integrated Resource Service Contracts (IRSCs), must be submitted electronically to Matt Daigle and Ingrid Anderson by June 1, 2026, at 8:00 A.M. PDT.
