The Office of the Secretary, through the U.S. Navy, intends to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to Task Aerospace, Inc. for the acquisition of the Task Aerospace PN 740055-1 cartridge actuated initiator and its associated test fixture design. This procurement, identified by solicitation number N00421-26-RFPREQ-WPM202-0139, supports the CAD/PAD Joint Program Office in widening its supply sources for JAU-72B/A Cartridge Actuated Initiators. The acquisition enables feasibility testing of an alternate source for V-22 external initiators, which are critical components that initiate ballistic sequences to detonate severance assemblies during emergency aircrew escape scenarios.
The anticipated award value is $850,000, with an estimated performance period running from August 1, 2026, to August 1, 2027. Performance will take place in Indian Head, Maryland. This requirement is classified under NAICS 541330 Engineering Services and PSC H113 Quality Control- Ammunition and Explosives. The government intends to negotiate with Task Aerospace, Inc. under FAR 6.103-1, as the company previously developed the design for the V-22 external initiator and this acquisition will verify its performance through test samples and a test fixture.
Interested parties may submit capability statements by the response deadline of June 25, 2026, to Jose Perez. While this is not a request for competitive proposals, the government will use information received by the closing date to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The contract will be awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement with Task Aerospace, Inc., and there is no set-aside designated for this notice.
