NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk, Philadelphia Office intends to acquire qualified astronomers, physicists, engineers and computational scientists with knowledge and skills to assist with research projects and operations that cover the field of atomic and molecular physics, radio astronomy, aeronautical engineering, astrometry and photometry of celestial science, stellar astrophysics, optics, databases development, mathematics, astronomical software development and space weather at the United States Naval Observatory (USNO), in Washington, D.C. The proposed procurement is being processed as a total small business set-aside. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 541712 with a size standard of 1000 employees. This procurement is being conducted as a commercial item, using FAR Part 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items (SAP-CI). It is anticipated that the solicitation for this requirement will be posted in May 2017. Interested parties are solely responsible for monitoring of the below mentioned website for postings of the solicitation and any amendments thereto. It is anticipated the Navy will solicit a Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) type, contract. The anticipated performance period is 01 September 2017 through 31 August 2018, with four, one-year option periods.
